 Elementary Music
Music is an integral part of the education at Minot Catholic Schools. In addition to the regular general music curriculum of note reading, rhythm reading and performing, study of instruments and composers, movement, playing of rhythm instruments, and singing, we work on music to sing for Mass and special school functions. This year we have a new hymn book entitled "Never Too Young," and we are very busy learning the many beautiful songs to use for daily Mass. Learning the basics of music occurs in a sequential fashion. In Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades the students become familiar with notes and rhythm. In the 3rd and 4th grades they apply this while learning to play the recorder. In 5th grade they are ready to begin band. Also, each year the students perform in a Christmas program and a Spring program. This year K-5th grades will be together performing in the Little Flower School gym. Sarah Dimond, Music Teacher
